Kinga Keszthelyi

Dramaturge

Kinga Keszthelyi graduated from the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest in 1997, specializing in dramaturgy. She further honed her skills at Columbia University’s School of the Arts in New York City, where she studied dramaturgy and management on a Fulbright Grant.
Her career began at a regional theatre in Kaposvár, Hungary, but in 2000, she secured a position at the prestigious Katona József Theatre in Budapest. She went on to contribute her talents to the National Theatre, the Hungarian State Opera, where she worked on numerous theatrical productions.
In 2004, she joined TT Filmműhely, the production company of acclaimed filmmaker Béla Tarr, and conducted workshops at the Film Factory, Tarr’s film school in Sarajevo.
She co-wrote the libretto for “Valuska,” an opera by the internationally celebrated contemporary composer Péter Eötvös, who passed away in March 2024. The opera was recognized with the award for Best World Premiere at the International Opera Awards on October 2, 2024, held at Munich’s Prinzregententheater.
