József Iszlai
József Iszlai is a musician and sound designer with an interest in electro-acoustic compositions, plunderphonics, and sampling. Following his film studies in Cluj Napoca, Romania, he delved into mixed-media installations, animation, and theater productions. His musical contributions include acclaimed projects at Cannes and Berlinale, and audio installations across Taiwan, Spain, Poland, and Portugal. Before working at MOME Budapest, he tutored sound design at the Kun Shan University of Tainan, Taiwan and Partium Christian University of Oradea, Romania.
An alumnus of the 2021 i-Portunus grant (European Commission), Iszlai is a frequent collaborator with the Orangerie Theater of Cologne, Germany. He pursued academic research in the phenomenology of 20th-century sonic warfare through the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences and serves as a contributing member of the Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies.
