József Fülöp DLA, habil.
He completed his art studies at the predecessor of MOME, the Hungarian University of Applied Arts.
After obtaining his degrees, he worked as a visual identity designer, illustrator, character designer, and director of animated commercials.
He has been teaching at MOME since 2001; from 2005 he served as Head of Animation Education, and later became the author of the accredited curricula for undergraduate and master’s animation programs in Hungary.
He earned his PhD in 2007, completed his habilitation in 2011, and was appointed Full Professor in 2013.
He served as Rector of MOME for ten years, from 2014 to 2024.
As a producer, he has contributed to numerous award-winning short films. These works have received awards at, among others, Annecy, Cannes, and the Berlinale. Further distinctions include a Cartoon d’Or nomination in 2007, an Academy Award® nomination in 2014, a European Film Award nomination in 2023, and an Annie Award nomination in 2024.
Since 2025, he has been a member of the European Film Academy.
